What are Court Cards?

Court Cards are the 16 personality cards found in the Minor Arcana — four per suit (Wands, Cups, Swords, Pentacles). Each suit contains a Page, Knight, Queen, and King, representing different levels of maturity and expression.

The Four Ranks

• Page: The learning stage. Youthfulness, curiosity, and the role of a messenger
• Knight: The action stage. Adventure, energy, and the drive for change
• Queen: The maturity stage. Inner strength, intuition, and nurturing power
• King: The mastery stage. Authority, experience, and stable leadership

Interpretation Approaches

Court Cards can be read in three primary ways:

• Actual person: A specific individual in the querent's life
• Personality trait: A quality the querent embodies or needs to develop
• Situational energy: The type of energy flowing through a situation

Court Cards are often considered the most challenging to interpret. They require careful attention to context and the ability to discern which interpretive approach best fits the reading.
